We took several kites out on demo to allow the locals chance to try a few back to back, it was the 2011 Slingshot Rally that was hogged the most! Gary must have been on the kite for 6 hours solid and didn’t give it to anyone. I got it at the end of the day as the wind died! I learnt my lesson and started with it the second day, after an hour or so passed it over and never saw it for the rest of the session!
The Rally has this effect, once you try it you don’t want to give it back at all.
Why? There is something about the kite. It flies really quickly and turns very fast generating power all the time. This power is very controllable from the bar allowing you to be totally in control of the kite and not it you (like the older Fuels!). It handles gusts extremely well and just irons them out and sits solid in the sky. The kite will do what ever you want it to do without question, loops are powerful and clean, it unhooks then flies well as long as you trim the kite correctly and jumps are high and very floaty. What more can you ask for?

Surf…It handles this really well to. You can run down the faces, do that quick bottom turn for the critical section that is throwing, head towards the kite a little and it slowly heads towards the water. Get the lines tight again and it goes straight back to where you want it. The power almost completely shuts of so you can play on the wave and not be dragged off it! Due to the speed of the kite through the window it makes carve turns a pleasure knocking the lip off with power and grace and cut backs again are easier due to the speed in the kite.
This is one tough mumma too. I have seen several instances of Rallys down in big surf getting a pounding. After one particularly bad pummelling of a local rider, the kite came out twisted 180 degrees! He had to let it down to regain its shape and no damage! Doing this is not advisable as surf can destroy a kite instantly due to the massive forces involved but it is nice to see them survive such a pounding. Remember no kite manufacturer covers any kite for warranty in the surf!

So as you can see a true all rounder. The Slingshot 2011 Rally is great for freestyle and will more than keep up with you, it is fantastic in the waves and will put you where you want to be and help you get out of the places you really don’t want to be! It is very safe and has a massive wind range. It is one tough mumma and looks good in the sky.
Without doubt the best kite I have flown to date and now the most used by me from our demo stock, we have sold a bucket full of these already and everyone to date has been really impressed.

Rally wind range

The wind range is impressive on the 2011 Slingshot Rally kites. We have a 12 meter demo kite and I can use this from 8 mph to 35 mph. I would not take it out in 30 mph but have been out there when it has picked up. Even in these winds with a lot of de power it was very manageable if not a little exciting! A two kite quiver with the Rallys covers nearly all winds.
