KITESURFING IN NORTH DEVON WITH SOMETHING TO SAY? HERE IS YOUR CHANCE...

  1. A very cold period for the next week. A big high is sitting over Russia and chucking all their crap to us! We want some more lows please bringing warm moist air from a SW direction! Not going to happen for a while...Enjoy the possible snow and -5 contitions...Brrrr.

(Posted on 2012-01-29 07:07:00 by petersawyer)
  2. Windies...What's up? No wind is what's up :o) Family time is upon us for the weekend. Not looking good with a High pressure taking hold of the UK once again with nothing forecast for this weekend and some inconsistent east winds for the week. Time to get the second hand section completed on our web site and all repairs out of the way as my suit doesn't look like it is going to get wet this week! Enjoy the family or pub time...

(Posted on 2012-01-28 07:16:00 by petersawyer)
  3. Can't really moan, this is the first patch of poo wind for 6-7 weeks. We have been totally spoilt with some classic days. Been the regular faces out there and not too many people at all. Wait until the sun comes out..They will all be back again!
Happy Eastilies for the next few days and some pretty quiet conditions to re build the broken bodies! See you on the water soon hopefully...

  4. What a short but great adrenaline session yesterday. Wind must have reached 60 mph at times in the hail but the Flexifoil Storm Chaser has loads of wind range left...Great kite and good session with Mike.

(Posted on 2011-12-14 07:15:00 by petersawyer)
  5. Wind, wind and more wind...Total kite heaven! Today looking good and for the next week. Long range showing next weekend looking a bit naff so make the most of today and mid week...See you out there windies...I am trialing the Ben Wilson Noise for a review. Top, top surf kite but what else is under the rip stop bonnet?

(Posted on 2011-12-04 05:48:00 by petersawyer)
  6. Good wind as far as the long range can see....Kite porn! Total dirty, disgusting, lovellllyyy wind! Feed my adiction Mother Nature!
See you out there fellow above the water skippers.

(Posted on 2011-11-27 06:58:00 by petersawyer)
  7. Not a lot going on this week, a bit of off shore wind but not strong enough or constant enough so no kitesurfing last week at all. A bit of a chance today after HW but keep the fingers crossed!

(Posted on 2011-11-20 07:17:00 by petersawyer)
  8. What a couple of pleasent sessions at the Ho! Thursday and Sunday with off to cross/off winds...Off putting as you know if anything goes wrong it's bye, bye kite but what power on the waves. Sunday was quite busy for an off shore wind with about 6 of us out, very gusty though with the 10m just right then quite overpowered! Okay in the water as you could just edge it out but getting back up the beach was a giggle!
    Very nice to ache again!

(Posted on 2011-11-14 07:05:00 by petersawyer)
  9. Still no good wind but today has a little promise of a cheeky Northly...We have a new sewing machine (Singer 457 zz) and new motor fitted to the Benina industrial so now have 3 working machines and one left to repair...Much better!
Well that's the repairs on the way again, all I need now is a good kitesurf and life will again be in balance!

(Posted on 2011-11-05 06:50:00 by petersawyer)
  10. What a time I am having....Sewing machine keeps playing up and going to repairer so frustrated (new one on order for the end of this week! Big new top of the range Singer...Can't wait!) and every time I go for a kitesurf the wind goes or is gusty and off shore! Not been in for nearly two weeks...Ahhhhh...Come on Mother nature, SORT IT OUT!

(Posted on 2011-11-01 07:36:00 by petersawyer)
  11. Well boys and girls want to know what is happening in the rear? Not my rear you weirdo, who wants to know about that!
The rear of the shop (container) is carefully being created into a Den...Not just any den but "Garys Den"...or to be precise the "Ding Den".
Oh yes, he can repair surfboards and kiteboards to a high standard at reasonable rates and I have seen his work...Not bad for a beach bum ;o)
Kitemare Company is almost the one stop shop...We need a chuck wagon for bacon sandwiches and we will be there!

(Posted on 2011-10-29 07:05:00 by petersawyer)
  12. What a spanking weekend with Southampton university down. Mike managed to get around 15 trained with help from top instructors. A great couple of sessions at Crow Point with yesterday having around 50 kiters down there. A great fun session was had, look at the facebook page for some photos of a for once, busy Crow Point!

(Posted on 2011-10-24 05:50:00 by petersawyer)
  13. That's about it for now....A few days forced rest as Mother Nature puts her foot down to all the fun we have been having! Weekend has a little hope but next week looking good again. Rest the weary muscles and ready yourselves for another onslaught!

(Posted on 2011-10-13 10:32:00 by petersawyer)
  14. What a wierd period, hardly any wind for two weeks now the long range forecast is good as far as the eye can see! Off to Blackpool tomorrow so no weather updates for a week but no need! Looking at the long range I can say now it's good, it's windy get on out there!
I need an afternoon at the Ho! today to stretch the aching unused muscles...See you down there.

(Posted on 2011-10-03 05:19:00 by petersawyer)
  15. What a good few weeks it has been. We have had lots of use from the 7m kites and with wind nearly every day, all muscles in the right place again! We have a dodgey patch coming through now but still with a few days of hope...See you out there.

(Posted on 2011-09-23 06:11:00 by petersawyer)
  16. Like a good woman she has some power and lets you know who is boss a little! But most of the time you are riding her sooo sweeeetly, I miss the ID....I have to wait until October for my 12 m and November for my 8 m...Jobs on then!

(Posted on 2011-09-16 06:19:00 by petersawyer)
  17. Hi.. Just watched the video of you on the Hadlow ID....cracking...... nice recovery at the 3.54 min mark!!!!!!!!!SLAP..

    (Posted on 2011-09-15 08:00:00 by Mark P)
  18. Another great day on the Hadlow ID again yesterday. The kite has to go back today and I will have a tear in my eye! What a kite, the best kite I have ever used...They are available at the end of the month in 1 size and two more are ready at the end of Oct...Can't wait for mine!!

(Posted on 2011-09-14 06:27:00 by petersawyer)
  19. FLEXIFOIL DEMO DAY TOMORROW....And have we got a treat for you! The new Hadlow kite will be on the beach, well the final production prototype as the kite isn't in stores until October. Get your hands on it first and lets see what this baby can do!
NEVER FLOWN A KITE? Now is you chance...Bring your family and the Flexifoil pro riders will help them fly a power kite while you have a sneeky kitesurf! Sounds good to me!
WANT TO TRY KITESURFING? Two hour slots, free kitesurfing lessons available from Team Players, call for more information or to book a free slot.

See you on the beach fellow windies, from 10 am both days until we loose the beach at HW

  20. Well done to all those new ones that have just became Kitesurfers. Sunday was some of the most challenging conditions we have had for a while with 10-30 mph winds and cross shore. The gusts were banging through and the lulls were large! Kitemare's were all around with dunking's out back and kiteloop beach drags. What doesn't scare you off will make you stronger, and better...Well done. Wind all week, make the most of it and build on your new experiences but stay safe out there.

(Posted on 2011-09-05 06:33:00 by petersawyer)
  21. I will be putting up a fight. There is no way I will let Danny get better than me....It's a dad thing! Cool video though...

  22. Video footage of Colin at the Ho! on http://www.youtube.com/user/garyjschultz?feature=mhee#p/u/0/j3Aj1-1jHBE If anyone wants a Google+ invite give me a shout at gary.j.schultz@googlemail.com See you all on the water soon, and before i forget ........... Danny is going to be better than Pete. Keep it up Danny. ;-)

  23. Managed to try the Hadlow 11m yesterday....NICE! Need to get more time on it to get a good balanced picture, I really want the 13 m now so I can extend my time on this kite. Felt a bit like my first Vapour III with heavier bar pressure so you know what the kite is going to do and direct feel. Loved it even though it was underpowered most of the time! Unhooked it was really in its element with no change in flying at all. Cool kite...Can't wait to get my grubby hands on here again!

(Posted on 2011-08-25 06:59:00 by petersawyer)
  24. I do love the Turbine. Dodgy wind yesterday and I can still be flying around on the normal board without having to pull out the plank and still have power for tricks...Love the little baby (or not so little!). Was a strange session as everyone frustrated out there! Really nice on the gusts then gone! Nice, pleasant ache this morning, good to feel it again!
It is a great kite for training as it produces so much pull it does build the muscles, edging to get a good railey makes your calf muscles sing!
Danny getting on well out there, good to see. He want's to be better than me, it's his sole aim! He has a while to go yet with the poo stance...But watch that space!

(Posted on 2011-08-22 06:56:00 by petersawyer)
  25. What a bag of poo yesterday! Gary, Wayne and Nick sat in the car discussing is it enough or not? Was a bit gusty and looked okay, okay for the Turbine! By the time I had got pumped and changed the flag had stopped moving, by the time I got on the beach I was dragging the kite almost! Blummin mother nature! Quick fly of the kite until no wind at all....

(Posted on 2011-08-21 07:04:00 by petersawyer)
  26. A jolly fine day all round yesterday. All of our students are getting on really well and look like they will make it as fully fledged Kitesurfers complete with the screw missing! Our latest additions are enjoying the near perfect conditions and I got out with Kevin for 3.5 hours and went for it! Kevin always pushes me and vice versa...He got a nice unhooked kiteloop in, surface pass and nearly got aan air pass...I feel I am falling behind a little here! Down side...I don't have a body this morning, it is one big aching machine! Brusied leg and back! Great session though!

(Posted on 2011-08-15 06:52:00 by petersawyer)
  27. What a great kitesurf at Instow yesterday. Started on the Turbine but had to change down to the Vapuor X 12. After several weeks of the Turbine how light does a 12 m seem! Great session with Will, funnyest bit was Will running up and along the Cricket Club wall like spiderman! Never seen anything like it before (using the kite for lift), very funny and some puzzled grockles looking on!

(Posted on 2011-08-10 06:11:00 by petersawyer)
  28. When I get the call I always have a broken kite in my hand! My sewing is only straight as I haven't stopped for 4 months solid...Will catch up one day (Hopefully).
Glad you had a good one though, we all need it, all us KITESURFERS together no matter what we have on our feet and how low consequence our tricks!
Will be out Sunday in the shallows for some spinning around the bar and out back for some cruising on the waves....Multi disciplined much better! See you out there big guy and thanks for the cyder....You can come in the shop anytime ;o)

(Posted on 2011-08-06 06:30:00 by petersawyer)
  29. "If you snooze you lose" got to come when you get the call. Afganistan Nick and i got some green ankle snappers on the bar while the kiteboarders were ripping it up on the shore. PS. EXCELLENT repair on the 10m, nice to see you can sew straight even with one eye closed. Cant even fault the colour matching.

(Posted on 2011-08-05 13:59:00 by gary)
  30. Pretty dire last night...Got desperate so went for some Turbine time! Again it's a low wind kite and NOT a no wind kite. Things have got to get better out there soon!

(Posted on 2011-08-03 06:23:00 by petersawyer)
  31. Windy times are a coming for sure Mark! From Thursday onwards we look to have quite a long period of wind coming this way. Dust off the kites too after their lay up and get ready for some rip stop time....Tiz time to hang below the bar getting spanked by Mother Nature again....Can't wait! Only 5-6 kites left in to repair then I can escape! (Until more are broken!!)...Enjoy and everyone remember keep your kites up for a week or two as I have done nothing but constantly repair kites for months now! 1-2 days with no kites so I can catch up on life would be good :o)

(Posted on 2011-08-02 05:32:00 by petersawyer)
  32. Well things not been good on the wind front...so bad that i have had to get the longboard out of its cobwebs and take up surfing again...roll on the windy weekend!!!!

(Posted on 2011-08-01 18:52:00 by markP)
  33. The Turbine is proving its worth already! Mick, Kevin, Simon and myself all going on the Turbine when wind would had been too light for most kites. The advantage of the Turbine was the apparent wind it produces. Once going you could build up speed then unhook and pop a trick. I am already quite impressed with the kite and I have only been on it for 3-4 hours so far. Low winds all week...Yes! Its Turbine time!!

(Posted on 2011-07-25 06:38:00 by petersawyer)
  34. The new Hadlow board in the shop looks amazing and I can't wait to try it as we have a demo...Down side is long range forecast isnt looking good at all! I guess the Slingshot Turbine demo will be out a fair bit in the next week or so!
    Happy flying,.

(Posted on 2011-07-20 06:13:00 by petersawyer)
  35. Not much going on this week at all with the wind, hardly a breath all week. Weekend is looking to be a little more lively so keep your fingers crossed.

(Posted on 2011-07-13 06:12:00 by petersawyer)
  36. Very busy in the shop Saturday but closed on time at 4pm to go for a kite...Well I had to! Simon brought some new Rallys and board so I had promised to show him how to set them up (any excuse for a kite and this one works! ALL NEW KITES BROUGHT FROM US HAVE A FREE SET UP AND KITE FROM ME! Yipieee!).
Great session with Gary being his normal nutty self, Wayne throwing some great moves and also being a fruit and nut bar and Richie really enjoying himself. Great interaction and fun on the water. Not too good a wind but a pleasure to be out there.
    Fun times...

(Posted on 2011-07-10 08:16:00 by petersawyer)
  37. The shop got too busy to leave (right up to 6pm!). Another one missed but I didn't mind as was saving myself for the weekend. Looked this morning and it is due to die off just around the time we shut the shop this afternoon! Dough!

(Posted on 2011-07-09 06:10:00 by petersawyer)
  38. fingers crossed for an early finish from work at 5pm and straight down the HO!

    (Posted on 2011-07-08 07:39:00 by mark p)
  39. The wind is about to show itself again, should be good this afternoon for a smaller kite too! I only have a few repairs left to do so would be rude not to go out!! See you on the water..

(Posted on 2011-07-06 06:51:00 by petersawyer)
  40. Another quiet weekend just passed! Not so good for our weekend warriors but there is wind tomorrow then for the rest of the week. I am going to get through as many kites as possible in the next few days to clear them as the wind is looking good for the 2nd half of this week. See you out there...

(Posted on 2011-07-04 06:39:00 by petersawyer)
  41. WARNING....Lessons to be learnt last night. Never launch at mid beach at Instow!
He was an inexperienced visitor or local beginner as never seen him before. Launched mid beach (this is silly at Instow due to the amount of walkers on the beach in this area, wasn't so bad as beach quite quiet last night) and didn't get any people but got the kite caught in the up draft from the dunes!
Struggled with it for a while as going up the dunes then lofted! Bounced up the rest of the dunes, dragged and bounced over the top of the dunes and nearly hit the wall by the road! If a bus had been running (they go every 20 mins or so) he would had probably had been killed as his kite was parked neatly on the roof of the house across the road with lines right across the road!
Only Kevin and myself out so we dropped kites to help him. Had to stop two buses and helped him get lines off the road. I then went back for some more kiting and left him with the problem of how to get the kite off some persons roof!!
Only destroyed pride from him but was so close as those dunes are full of kids in a few weeks time and the path gets busy.
Moral of the story...In my information about Instow on here I say Instow is not suitable for beginners. The updraft is one reasons and a loose kite here will more than likely hit a kid in the warm days. Everyone, always launch at the end of the beach..It's much safer!
I was a bit angry as it was total inexperience and if he had observed the site first he would had seen a large area of flat to launch at the end of the beach away from all the people. It was very nearly a major incident and could had provoked a ban...I didn't need to say anything though as he learnt his lesson and looked totally shook up, I wonder if he ever launches a kite again?

  42. I'm back! What an experience...You don't have to be superman to enjoy the BKSA events. I didn't have the moves to have a chance in the competition but had one hell of a weekend and met some of the nicest people I can class as friends after only a few days. I was helped with the rules, moves and made to feel very welcome. I can't wait until the next event at Hunstanton and meeting my new friends again.
I have been given a list to nail for the next event so will be down the Ho! trying to slap myself around on the water...See you down there...

(Posted on 2011-06-27 07:08:00 by petersawyer)
  43. SHOP OPEN AS NORMAL BUT I AM OFF TO RHYL FOR THE BKSA EVENT. NO KITE REPAIR EMAILS WILL BE ANSWERED TILL MONDAY OR DAILY REPORTS WROTE.

(Posted on 2011-06-24 06:55:00 by petersawyer)
  44. What a great session at the Ho! yesterday and what a sight on the beach....Gary fell off when he looked landward and saw Alan and Mick both with their trousers around their knees and hairy asses hanging out! It was some sort of two man cheeky salute...Was the biggest crack the beach had seen for years...Would had easily swallowed a couple of buggiers.
Wind was off to cross off so I stayed shallow but what power you could get on the little waves and what power you could get into the turns. If only we had a rescue boat we could had played with the 3-4 foot of clean surf out back. Please don't think I am endorsing going out on off shore winds and remember if you do you need the experience and have a plan to get back! You are on your own and would have to ditch your kite if all goes wrong!!

(Posted on 2011-06-18 07:38:00 by petersawyer)
  45. What a nice cheeky little session at Instow last night. I was going to get to the Ho! in the morning but I have so many kites to get through it's not professional (and Gary was working so without my buddy there it wouldn't seem right!). Finished work and caught the HW at Instow, it was sunny, warm and really nice.
Not much wind but enough to have a jolly nice play with myself! Only one out.
First time out with the new van brought of Big Mick, I could get changed in the back but needed a yoga work out first just to bend in the positions I needed to! I do miss my big van but do love the Suzuki as it's unusual!
    Wind later in the week....Byeeee..

(Posted on 2011-06-14 06:12:00 by petersawyer)
  46. Where was my manly wind? Sat at the Ho! with cross offshore wind that was gusty but only to 25 mph ish watching two learners body dragging...Guess they wanted to go to Lundy! Takes all sorts.
We went for a family meal at the Ho! last night, yep, the wind came around after HW and it looked good! Bugger...Missed another one. 8-10 people out, hope you had a good one...

(Posted on 2011-06-13 06:20:00 by petersawyer)
  47. Stay safe out there today fellow wind riders. Looking to be a really challanging day with wind from the SSE to SSW and very, very gusty. See you out there!

(Posted on 2011-06-12 07:35:00 by petersawyer)
  48. That is so cool. What a great wave shape for a river? Fk that though...Some of those tropical rivers contain some interesting things..Croc's, fish that bite, raw sewage to name a few! Tube in a river...How novel though.
I will stick to the Ho! a lot less poo now a days..See you out there on Sunday...Manly wind coming!

    Pray 4 wind.

  50. What a little butie yesterday. Sunshine and a constant flow of breeze just right for the 10 m kite. Swell was at about 4 foot so great faces to play on. Got it sorted in the end but for the first half of the session I was crashing everything, one top face plant from 5-6 m high...Twas a stinger and also gave just a little tap to leftie ball!! Must NOT try that landing again!
Welcome to Chris...Our latest learner, they had plenty of room to practise and some spanking wind to go with it.

(Posted on 2011-06-09 05:53:00 by petersawyer)
  51. I use a 5'9" ish fish (very occasionally as I love twin tips!!), it is also my old small wave fun board. It works just fine in the conditions you will encounter at the Ho! Strapless will limit your wave size as getting out back can be a bitch but for £150 you can't go wrong as long as the board is structurally sound. DON'T try to put straps on it as the construction of the standard surfboard and kitesurf board is totally different. The kitesurf boards especially now have loads of carbon fibre/kevlar to make them much stronger. If you jump a standard board you are liable to go through it upon a heavy landing!!
Gary will always give you advise on strapless riding...He is the Ho! wave god!

(Posted on 2011-06-04 05:40:00 by petersawyer)
  52. hi guys, some advice please, would this board be any good to kitesurf those sexy waves at westward ho! with. basically will i look like gary on this thing.

it is a 5"8 fish if you cannot be bothered to follow the link. cheers

  53. First flight of the 2011 MRK Zoom last night. Was not expecting too much as another cheaper brand...Was plesently suprised!
I went to Instow as near HW and wind was only 8-12 mph, I wouldn't had gone out normally but wanted to at least pump up the kite!
She launched okay, held in the low winds easily and turned really quickly. Got me going on the Glide easily but not enough wind to jump. Unhooked fine but no raileys as not enough wind.
I need much more water time on this one but I think I have found a good one. G-Force cross sitting in the van....Did get to pump it up, very simular shape to F-One Bandit/Rally...Can't wait to fly this one.
Happy days...Until the wind just went!

  54. Cheers windies...Another fine one at the Ho! yesterday. Went to see how the guys were getting on with lessons (I did have a proper excuse to get out of the shop!). We had two yesterday and is was great to see. A father and son team learning the fine sport together. I must get Harvey and Danny taught now as looking at the two together I too would like my boys on the water! (God knows how many carve sprays I would get then!). Once I knew they were loving it due to Matt's fine teaching, I then had a pretty fun session peeing around with Gary! For a guy that doesn't do monkey tricks...He is doing pretty well! Wind wasn't brilliant but the sun was out and due to rising tide, the water was really warm. Got back to the shop, Danny had nearly sold out of scooters and been rushed off his feet all afternoon...Whoops!

(Posted on 2011-06-01 06:53:00 by petersawyer)
  55. Memories are made from days like yesterday. Big Mick out back with myself and Gary, all take the same wave and close together. Great sight...3 fit young kitesurfers slashing the wave in unison...IN OUR MINDS! Bunch of oldies having a ball on the wave face giggling to each other....Cool wave!
I am polishing my signiture move...The flapping swan! It has to be seen to be beleived...Gary bettered it by far, so much so, I was riding along giggling like a little school girl! He found a kids fishing net on a bambo stick and was riding along looking like he was chasing butterflys. Then he lept into the air like a man posesed waving the net around like a mad man. Never laughed so much for ages! Butterflys keep clear of the Ho! ITS NOT SAFE anymore!
Great time with buddies...Ache like a good un this morning and very, very tired! Cheers guys!!

(Posted on 2011-05-30 07:59:00 by petersawyer)
  56. Anyone seen my nut floating past at the Ho! Lost last night, left bollock! Nice railey until one foot fell out...Few little girly shakes to remove board from other foot mid air...Nothing...Bigger kicks to get the blessed thing away...NOTHING! Crash..One foot in front, one behind..First time I have done the splits in years, and the water slap! Owww!! So if anyone finds my ball please treat it carefully and return it back to the shop!
Great session with great people...Cheers all.

(Posted on 2011-05-28 07:12:00 by petersawyer)
  57. And I did manage to get out on a 7 m kite too! Very messy surf conditions but some great faces. Good with the NW wind to be surfing the other way as it is by far my weaker side. All seemed to come together and I had some nice waves. Went out with Gary, few others out too but still quiet.
    Weekend looking okay too!

  58. What a time here...Great wind and I can never get away! Yesterday I got two kites repaired and was going to award myself a well done kitesurf...Phone call from the wife, she had to go to casualty with breathing problems...I had to get the kids, sort her out...Time went, DOH!
To make it worse I had been in the day to sort out my ears, then late afternoon with wife and Janus was winding me up about the great conditions I was missing!
    Maybe today?

  59. What a proper fine period we are having....Pick your day and almost certainly going to be good wind! What a treat...Was going to get out yesterday as got two kites finished then four kites came in! I seem to be going backwards!! Will try today if no more come in.

  60. A proper fine session on Sunday with quite a few kitesurfers out. Only Gary and myself out back but I didn't last for long! Very large waves that wanted to eat you alive and with the wind direction with lulls in the wind didn't help the cause! Very scary moment for me on a monster that nearly won, balancing wind in sail with ability to run the wave....Poop in my wetsuit! When it went critical there wasn't the wind to out run it and I only just made it...Was large and would had tumbled me like a washing machine...Stayed inside after that one waiting for better wind!
Mike was doing very well with ourtwo trainees, both got their first rides so some happy faces that evening!

  61. A good day all round! Had a nice mix of kiters and scooter kids in the shop all day keeping us out of mischeif! First lessons this year too, bookings looking quite good now for the next few weeks.... Finished the day with a nice kite at the Ho! Very gusty conditions but good to be out again. Nice fresh building swell but only 3 foot, hardly anyone else out, I guess that Saunton was the beach of choice being S to SSW winds. Filled my ear up with drops and then ear plugs and kill or cure on the aching back! The joys of getting older!

(Posted on 2011-05-22 05:49:00 by petersawyer)
  62. Busy time! Lots of kites to get through and altering the shop at the same time. All needs finishing today before a busy weekend in the shop. Will be too busy to go out today but plan on closing the shop at 3-4 pm tomorrow and getting wet again...Need some more water time!

(Posted on 2011-05-20 06:37:00 by petersawyer)
  63. Another fine session at the Ho! yesterday. I did dust off my old surfboard and had half the session on that! What a mess...I was over the front, falling off the side, off on the wave blummin things I was a total beginner on it! Much more fun on my twin tip!
Had a sore nose after the session....I didn't hook the bar back in after a railey properly, big gust and the whole lot pulled off my harness and caught under my nose on the way skyward!...Scared the poop out of me as I didn't have a clue what was going on...Great kite though, Im too busy with customer kites to repair to go out again today :(

(Posted on 2011-05-17 06:12:00 by petersawyer)
  64. What a nice session at instow yesterday with only Sy and Simon out as well. Blue water, nice clean wind and hardly any other people around. Had to shut shop at 4pm as wind was too tempting!
Today is looking just as good but its wifes birthday! Can't really go but I have a job to do for the neighbour this morning...If I can get this done quickly?!?

(Posted on 2011-05-15 06:22:00 by petersawyer)
  65. Went to the doctors and had to drive past Instow on the way back to the shop.....couldn't resist so a nice session at Instow it was for lunch! On my own so it gave me the chance to try some of those moves I knew I wouldn't land! I was the one making some very large splashes in the water! Ache like a good un this fine morning after a massage last night and sitting on a massage chair now! The joys of getting older and I still couldn't get the handle pass! Better get it soon before I totally seize up...See you out there windies

(Posted on 2011-05-13 06:26:00 by petersawyer)
  66. What a bottom! Really nice day yesterday and my surfers ear is playing up again...Very little sleep so doctors it is..First time for over 10 years! Can't be doing with not being able to get in. May try going out today, I will have to put my head in a plastic bag to keep the water out!

(Posted on 2011-05-12 06:17:00 by petersawyer)
  67. A proper fine one yesterday when the wind finally picked up (just before I had to be back to the shop!). Sunny, warm, a good swell running and just enough wind. Dam shame I couldn't play with the surf as my foot strap decided to destroy itself and kept falling off, right pain in the backside. Can't make today as too many repairs in or coming in...Must be professional!

(Posted on 2011-05-11 05:11:00 by petersawyer)
  68. Really couldn't find the enthusiasm to go out yesterday, you could see the lumps in the wind and the rain and the lightening and the birds flying backwards then no wind at all! Repairs all day for me! Today, what a different story. Frontal system passed so it should be clean wind all the way and the yellow blob in the sky....See you out there!

(Posted on 2011-05-10 05:58:00 by petersawyer)
  69. Lovelllyyy little session at the Ho! yesterday. Out for family meal at the Golf Club having to sit in the window watching Gary, Colin and one other have fun! Coffee? Not a chance I seized the moment and made a hasty retreat to the waters edge! Very gusty but lively! Great jumps as overpowered 80% of the time...Fun session.

(Posted on 2011-05-09 06:14:00 by petersawyer)
  70. Well I did get out for a little session in the afternoon but how frustrating! Could just get going...JUST! Then a nice gust to show you how good it could be then gone! Doh!
We still good to get out for a while but no way did it light the fire! Meant to be good tomorrow then a few nice patches of wind next week...Time to get nice a wet again.. See you out there

(Posted on 2011-05-07 07:17:00 by petersawyer)
  71. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY NICK! Aka Ponytail Nick / Gay Hairdresser Nick. Will you be out today? OK sesh yesterday at greysands then moveing onto the point for "waves".

(Posted on 2011-05-02 09:58:00 by gary)
  72. Another fine session yesterday with only a few people out. Swam to central bank and launched from there, very soft sand! Great little session, used the RPM as the Rally has sold and it didn't seem right using a kite that had a new owner!! Great session on it but I must admit, i like the Rally more.
Shop open today, close at 4 then rest I think...My body is broken after three kites in a row..Tired old man!

  73. LOST...30th April 2010 at Crow Point. Slingshot Verve surfboard in white in a Naish board bag. Forgot to strap to the roof and drove to Saunton. Could be at Crow Point or anywhere between, any help to reuinite owner and board together would be gratefully received. If found you can drop it into the shop or call Geoff Ellis on 07922 104499.

(Posted on 2011-05-01 13:02:00 by Peter Sawyer)
  74. THAT"S BETTER! A kite at last in good wind, okay, twas Crow Point, but still can't complain! 10-30 mph up and down like a fiddlers elbow but it was wind and more than 8 mph! Good little mix of locals (Saunton and Ho!) and visitors. Good spirited fun out there with lots of board rescues going on! Every one was total gentleman helping each other...made you proud to be a kitesurfer...Cheers guys for a good un.

(Posted on 2011-05-01 06:00:00 by petersawyer)
  75. NOTE:- There has been some complaints from surfers at westward Ho! about the conduct of some of the kitesurfers on Monday 25th April in the evening. There had been no wind all day and it picked up in the evening. A kitesurfer had been buzzing a surfer and he got pretty pissed, so pissed he was about to write a letter to the council to complain. As always it is blown out of proportion but please respect other water users and keep clear of them. As a kitesurfer we have much more mobility and can keep clear of them easily. I personally say hello to them, lets help spread the love out there and not create problems.
    Cheers....

  76. Mother nature taking the pee or what! A phone call last night to say it's on! It's working, bring a 12 m down the beach it's classic.....I spent all of Sunday night up every hour with projectile vomit and a backside that thought it was a space rocket! Poor old wifey was the same (at least we did something together for once LOL!). So, after a day at work on Monday praying I wouldn't poo myself, a session last night was not going to happen....And she decided to blow...Bitch!

(Posted on 2011-04-26 06:16:00 by petersawyer)
  77. Tiz mother natures way of having a laugh at my expence! At least I got going in a fart! That Rally 12 m on 32 m lines and the Glide board was spot on and almost our performed Colins 21 m fly surfer!
We must have good wind soon...But after looking at the long range I won't hold my breath...It may work later today for some N wind action..Fingers crossed!

(Posted on 2011-04-25 06:18:00 by petersawyer)
  78. to bad peter just after you left to day, i thought ild give land boarding another go and after a little bit the wind built up and up and up untill i got fed up with dodging grockals and joined coiling out in the water along with quite a few others. ended up being quite a good little sesion even if it was only 40 min or so

(Posted on 2011-04-24 18:43:00 by Michael Birchall)
  79. Another sack of poo! Went to the Ho! and haven't seen so many kiters for ages...Not like winter at all! No one really going anywhere with very light winds, even the buggiers were struggling! Nice to see the local bunch again on such a pleasent day..A bit of wind would had been the icing on the cake but wasn't to be! Got my wetsuit wet for no reason!!
Fingers crossed for some stormy weather soon!!

(Posted on 2011-04-24 06:13:00 by petersawyer)
  80. What a sack of poo! I sat at Fremington Quay for over a hour yesterday waiting for some life as I want to try the centre bank via boat only to find out the ho! had been working on a few select areas. Missed a session Ahhhhh....
Small chance for some NW winds later today, if it happens I will be there as nearly two weeks since last kitesurf....missing it badly!

(Posted on 2011-04-23 06:40:00 by petersawyer)
  81. What another long period of nothingness. Thank god we sell lots of scooters and parts coz you don't need a kite at the moment! The whole of next week is also looking iffy too. I will see you all on the water, i just don't know when!

(Posted on 2011-04-17 05:42:00 by petersawyer)
  82. The whole kitesurfing community is getting depressed! Still no wind and another long patch of nothingness is upon us again this year. A chance of some Crow Point action end of next week but not a lot until then. Ahhhhhh....

(Posted on 2011-04-15 05:37:00 by petersawyer)
  83. Thats better...A jolly nice session with the boys! 16-20 mph clean constant winds with blazing sunshine...What more can you ask for? I made the most of yesterday as the shop is very busy now and we have quite a few repairs coming in so I have to knuckle down to earn some more play time!!

(Posted on 2011-04-12 05:49:00 by petersawyer)
  84. Another windless weekend has gone! A bit on saturday but off shore! Today is looking very promising so I guess I will be repairing kites in the morning only today! See you out there..

(Posted on 2011-04-11 05:57:00 by petersawyer)
  85. Colin will never give it up! He is not one to ever give in and will be out there when he is 70 still trying to go bigger! It's locals like Colin that make it all so much better down the ho! 53 though...Makes me feel young!

(Posted on 2011-04-06 05:32:00 by petersawyer)
  86. happy birthday wise old uncle collin.may there be many more sessions before you take order of your zimmer board!

(Posted on 2011-04-05 16:07:00 by wayne)
  87. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLIN, 53 today. Good session today, really carving it up on his new board.

(Posted on 2011-04-05 15:34:00 by gary)
  88. Yes, It all makes sence now! Half asleep yesterday morning, climbed into the van, started the engine and just about to pull off when I noticed a little one looking at me from outside of the van with one very big eye. It was FILL IT the fish! Tucked under my window wiper to keep warm I think! I was worried about him as he wasn't breathing, started chest compressions and just about to give mouth to mouth when I remembered where he had been! Let the little bugger die, no way was i kissing Waynes arse!

(Posted on 2011-04-05 05:59:00 by petersawyer)
  89. how is your cod piece pete?

(Posted on 2011-04-04 15:41:00 by wayne)
  90. A fantastic day yesterday but the word on the street was BIG! To get going well you needed a big kite and big board. Got to the ho to find Alans, Waynes and Micks Big arses hanging out...could not sleep last night, nightmares! Colin came past on the water flying an aircraft carrier! Never before has my kite seemed so inferior! Visual appearence-colin had 2-3 times more kite than me! Flysurfer 21 m!!
The only small thing about the day was PHIL IT the fish. They found a baby dead fish while kiting, brought it in and the first i saw of it?
Why was it called PHIL IT- You would get two little fillets of it? NO, it was hanging out of Waynes undies, well just the tail! Fill It.....Need i say any more!

(Posted on 2011-04-04 05:58:00 by petersawyer)
  91. found today at the Ho 'PHIL IT ' the codling if anybody is missing him . He is in the safe hands of Pete .p.s hes not at all housetrained BEWARE

(Posted on 2011-04-03 19:15:00 by wayne)
  92. Thanks Graham...and whats more we found the missing steel ring from the spare lines while tidying late Friday. It is on the wall in a bag labelled for you now. Was stuck in the shop yesterday and didn't finish till 6.30pm as too many customers, not moaning though! Just meant no kitesurfing for me at all boo hooo! Musn't moan as a good three days pervious and today looking possible(as is the next few days too!).
Much better conditions with all N. Devon kitesurfers looking like Mr Muscle and not Mr Blobby! See you out there....

(Posted on 2011-04-03 06:06:00 by petersawyer)
  93. Hi Pete, quick note to say thanks for fixing my lines. Used them yesterday at saunton early morning with the 11m and 9m in late afternoon. Held up nicely despite some aggressive gusts in the afternoon. Kites actually seem more responsive. Must break them more often.

(Posted on 2011-04-02 09:58:00 by Graham Johnstone)
  94. Another mighty fine session...that's three in a row now! Went to Saunton as i suspected the Ho! would be too gusty. Surf nice size but wind direction could have had a little more W in it! pretty gusty 10-35 mph but the Rally rode the gusts like a rodeo rider!
Did see ATB guys down there, friendly nice bunch but luckily only about 5 of them so still really quiet out there. Mick and wayne were very on form in the shop before going....It must be love!

(Posted on 2011-04-02 02:41:00 by petersawyer)
  95. I been to instow last two evenings, not been great but high tide and could not be bothered to go all the way round to saunton.
The ATB shop are heading to saunton today, or so they said on facebook.
I'm stuck in school watching the trees, how depressing!!!!!

(Posted on 2011-04-01 09:09:00 by kevin)
  96. You have had wind now Mr Gary, you should be getting back to normal by now! I thought you meant our fellow tea tray riders from the other side of the estuary and was going to tell you off as they are as nice and nutty as we are! The C130 plane would be a valuable asset in times of light wind...Lots of wind generated!
A few nice waves shared yesterday my old buddy, some nice lumps coming through. I may look at Saunton today as S and I haven't been there for ages!

(Posted on 2011-04-01 05:29:00 by petersawyer)
  97. Ba*">rds at Saunton.
This is why i dont kitesurf there anymore.
Heed my advise and stay away!

  98. What you on about Alan? Yesterday was fine in fact it was a kitesurf at last! Gary and myself had a fantastic little session at the Ho! with good 12 m weather. A nice fresh swell to play on, only small but well formed building waves and great wind direction for the waves. I was totally cream crackered by the end and could hardly walk. Must find other fitness hobby to do when no wind as a two week lay off has killed me!! Listening outside now to the trees swishing and roof tiles rattling....7 m weather today? I can only hope!

(Posted on 2011-03-31 05:39:00 by petersawyer)
  99. Good one Gary....LOL
All this so called wind not coming as promised now I see. Met office stats changed big time this morning. Tomorrow Ok but thats about it.

(Posted on 2011-03-30 08:03:00 by Alan Butt)
  100. WTFk! I thought you were serious at first (I'm presuming your not!). You need some wind big guy as its almost certainly getting to you at the moment! AND to think for the first 3/4 I was genuinly worried for you. I think it's only guniess you have to worry about as he want's Bev for himself (dog for those that don't know!).
I will be calling you tomorrow to get that head of your's straight...morning session due to tides?
sorry for yesterdays tide information ;) I doubt anyone noticed due to no wind but I was a perfect 1 hour out...BST gotta love it! To think i got it right on Sunday but must have had the monday morning air head on!
    love you all x
