WESTWARD HO!

SWIMMING AREA...

COME ON GUYS AND GIRLS TAKE NOTE. IF YOU HAVE A JOB TO DO AND EVERYONE MAKES IT HARDER FOR YOU ITS NOT NICE IS IT?

THINK ABOUT THE POOR LIFEGUARDS AT THE HO! THEY HAVE A JOB TO DO, PROTECT THE SWIMMERS, KEEP AWAY FROM THEM AND OUT OF THE SWIMMING AREA. SOME KITESURFERS ARE MAKING THEIR LIFE HELL...

Please add a comment to my guestbook

  1. Some W winds next week...Until then its Crow Point battling with the dying winds and trying not to destroy the kites on the rocks and reinforcing rods out of the beach! See you later my die hard buddies and remember NO damage today....We are too busy!

  2. WE HAVE THE AIRUSH ONE KITE IN ON DEMO AND TWO IN THE SHOP FOR SALE! Yes I am excited even though the first ever test of it was poop! Wind rubbish for the first half of the session and it kept falling from the sky! Wind picked up a few miles an hour and what a great kite, still very light winds 10-12 mph but this baby has major potential for a big smile!

Can't wait to see what its like for free style!

  3. I did wonder that alen when i stuck my kite under there on sataday but made sure pete would look before driving off. also i'v got aa nice new patton on my kite looks very much like a tiar tred not sure how he managed to paint it on so life like.

Il have to blage a go on that new kite just to see how it flys. don't get to exsited about the skateboards, don't won't to see you down roak park playing on the scate ramps and danny down the beach playing with your kites

  4. Them Kites under his Van Bev were not for repair....well not until Pete Drove off without seeing them.....!

Best way to wind Pete up is go into his shop ....spend no money at all , but just talk about the seesion you had when he was not there...the Poor Bastard is so busy , you can see him ticking...Spend some money or F**k off ! Getting involved in prolonged Discussions about Donkey Diks & Kite Bladders does the Trick. Go & try...Dare you...just put your hand on your Wallet now & again to make him think your visit is possibly worth while.....He cant be nasty to us as we are his bread & butter....

Seriously Pete Good luck to you & Dan , it's looking good...well what you can see through the Dust any how!

  5. Your joking arn't you? He has my DNA and is hastling me for lessons on a daily basis! The shop will still be shut but the sign will say WE have gone to Westward Ho! LoL!! The 2011 Airush One turns up today for the shop stock and a 12 m demo, Danny is as excited about it as I am! On the other foot I am excited about the skateboard gear coming in!

Got to get excited about something as no blessed wind!

  6. Ah i can see where this is going get danny nicely qualifide to run the shop fix the kites and sell his scate boards then there will be no need for you in the shop so more time down the beach

  7. I thought about the post box in the side of the van but some joker would write dog poo bin above it I know! Its bad enough getting unnamed kites in the post without strange kites in the van too! If only I knew the owners!!

Shop expansion nearly finished, we should be knocking through Saturday..Will be a lot easier then as Danny will also be repairing kites as my apprentice...Bless him! Help and bigger workshop...I won't know myself!

  8. Hey Pete,

After seeing people deposit their kites underneath your van at the weekend, Gary suggests you cut a giant letterbox on the side of your van, so people can post their kites to you!

Glad to hear you are so busy - thats probably why we never see you at the beach anymore :)

  9. We have 18 kites in for repair at the moment. If you have just sent one in without enclosing your details please email me with your name, address, contact number, type of kite, damage so I can identify it. I have two kites with no details!!!

  10. You just have one of those faces Alan that says carve spray me! See even Kirby pup noticed it!! I wish I had of been there but can't moan as I did have a good one at Instow with the early risers, and loads of room!

This week is looking dodgey as hell with lots of East winds and wrong tides, even weekend looking suspect at the moment...Can you see Crow Point holding 20-30 people!! The repair centre is already stretched without the influx that would create!

  11. I'l have to do a little more practis on my surf board and get used to riding it more tow sided then il be right out there with you alen!

  12. That's about how many I counted...took me a while to get out yesterday & nothing to do with women Pete.....though I was the only one to kiss Kate goodbye again , her idea not mine. Si was most miffed....! Life in the old dog see !

My 9 m was playing up , so gave up & took my 7m out on max pig tails & was a dream , but still Knackered from Saturdays Mamouth seesion on the 15m. I was the one out the back , out of the way of all you Dangerous tricksters....& every time I did come in close some Bugger carvesprayed me...even the little Kirby Pup had a go....Cheek....Do I look like I like the taste of Sea water....!

    Mastering that surf board though..!

  13. lots and lots where at the ho! i got told at one point there was 28 in the water withy anouther 15 kites still on the beach but realy good wind and some lovely big waves out back!

  14. Another good kitesurf, this time 8am at Instow. Was blowing 20 mph so nicley powered on the 12m. Wayne and Simon joined me for a nice little session. We were all tired and aching but made the most of the fantastic conditions. Anyone go out at the Ho!? What was it like?

  15. What a session, best for many months for lots of reasons. The people is the main one and here are the highlights:- Colin, Nick and Gary playing in the secret lagoon! Can't say anymore or they all will kill me! Colin was on form with his jumps, can't wait to see him loop the Flysurfer! Gary was as cheeky as ever with some top carve sprays! Nick just loves it full stop. It looks like Richie has left the buggy in the garage and was looking natural in the water, no concerntrated look now, just sheer joy! Duncan also left the buggy in park and was also looking comfortable until Gary carve sprayed him, I was second passed him so he had two! Lucky lad!! Sly, Im still giggling now....What a classic! Stealth carve spray but got so much water flying it knocked him off (laughing as I write!), a group on the beach really liked this, laughing! I felt guilty as he didn't move, then he popped his head up and mouthed something like wanker at me! He then laughed his head off. I couldn't ride for a while as i was giggling like a girl! Big Mick was having a cracking one after breaking his kite a little, gave him the Lithium for the weekend. He was on form with some really nice runs. Nick (ex big beard!) was teaching Mrs and she was going like a train and loving it. Another woman for N Devon! Poor Mike had only got his kite back from the repair centre this week complete with new bladder and was pulling some nice jumps, his kite looped (on purpose or not Im not sure!) and slammed into a wave. It didn't like this and split from top to tail, in my van now for more surgery! Share the Lithium with Mick! Alan, when he could finally leave the woman on the beach had a great session. It takes him a while to get passed woman on the beach, a bit like a dog on heat...Lol! I can always hear Wayne first before seeing him, he was having a classic too, i could tell by the sound! Loads more out but ran out of room! kite loops a sucess, was prepared for the worst with full body armour! Not needed though! Great session with great people, cheers guys and girls x

  16. kite loop !!! well i didn't quite manage on but the kite sure sis just before smashing in to the beach :-( so back to the pete for another repair! sure it just likes your shop pete

  17. ^^^^^^I hope someone will be videoing this!!!!!!!!!

  18. I just felt the need to tell you lot what a bunch of bloody nutters you are! Push the limits....Blow them out the window more like! Kite loops? Who made this the in move to do and when? After seeing Wayne's kite do one of the biggest loops in the world, with him close behind it hanging on for dear life (I won't mention the landing!). Colin has battle scars from a backloop transition with kiteloop that slammed him onto the sand head first (ouch!). Now the talk for today is loops again...OMG I'm gunna break! Okay...Lets see who can nail them first, always up for a challange when it produces adrenaline! See you out there my loopy buddies....

  19. I went around to Saunton as some mated down from Somerset & up from Exmouth who allways insit on Saunton & not the Ho on my Door step. Still not seen them for a while & they did buy the Coffees for a change.

  20. What a great seesion at the Ho! yesterday.

Arrived at the Ho! and the wind was blowing a 34kts with the odd 40+ gust.

I took my 7.5 and Aaron took a 8M ...Nick was setting with a 8m too. My main baldder decided to dump all its air halfway down to the water. Managed to share Aarons 8m !!!! Great fun. A few odd foils out there trying to self launce and making a right mess of things. Saw two kite tear! Bet Pete will have a few phone call today!!

  21. What a day yesterday! A 7m in hand again and flying like a bird or a teapot (depending what mad pose I was pulling at the time!) It has to be the way forward for me...Mad poses!

Had a super session with Gary messing around just for a change, Gary pulled a teapot too but I missed it...Next time Gary!

The only down side was four or five learners spread down the beach with the kites as high as they could go leaving no where to go, normally not a problem but in the W winds was a little tricky getting past them without scaring the crap out of them! They all used to go down the beach but seem to be multiplying and spreading out!

The word from Instow last night was it was as good as the Ho! I will head there tonight if these 40 mph gusts last for some flat water flight without the fear of landing on a learner!! See you on the water...

  22. Love the advise for today! Next time theres a flat day we need to convsie the sea rescue helecopter to give us a little bit of wind to play with!

  23. Looks like a few of us made the wrong choice yesterday going for Instow! Gusty as anything and no fun at all. Gary and Nick rode around from Westward Ho! with tales of perfect conditions...Bum! I also heard Saunton was nice most of the day too.

Bugger, Note to self, leave instow with the SSW as too much wind shadow from Appledore!

Nothing today but lots next week....Must get the new shop done quick and repairs cleared fast so i can play once more!

  24. I was wearing booties in August...Why was it noted? Because you lot were comparing cuts, wears and blisters on your feet walking like invalids! Me I was fine!! Looking good for later today with some swell and challanging wind conditions...Can't wait!

  25. Got to agree it was good yeaterday. Real funny to watch Big Mick draged along Sand when he got tangled with Mike....Having played Rugby agains the B******d never before have I seen anything shift him quite like that. It's because of people like him I wear poxy dentures now!

Oh & Pete the little respect I did have for you just went straight out the window yesterday....as Craig pointed out , you were wearing Booties..... in August........!

  26. Great session at Westward Ho! yesterday and I didn't miss it! What a fantastic crowd out with it looking more like a weekend than mid week. Highlights for me (sorry if i miss you but a lot was going on!) Kevin landing another back roll and smiling so much he looked like the dog with two dicks, Amy having a great session with poor Craig looking from the shallows armed with students looking sick! (serves you right for taking the piss out of me!!), Colin showing exactly what an OAP is capable of (balls like buckets that guy!), Alan getting to grips now with the new Verve, Sam showing me how it should be done (I was having a trick off with Sam at one stage, I would put in my best moves and Sam would thrash it!! God he is looking good at the moment but what a pleasure to watch), Anthony was throwing a few large ones soaring into the skys, Mike was throwing a few nice jumps too with the Lithium (sorry buddy but your kite is nearly repaired so you will have yours back soon!), Big Mick was riding lots, no, lots and lots (get in there!) he has cracked it now, Roseanna was jumping like a flea- never seen so many jumps from one person and the smile said it all! I guess she is built to be in the air more than on the water!, Richie has cracked it, he is now waving, laughing and having real fun (before he was so concerntrated on the riding he saw nothing around him!), Duncan didn't last long but the lucky bugger was tired as he has been out as much as I used to before the shop went mental!

All in all what a day with great buddies doing silly things!

  27. Good session at the ho! But left my pump on beach as i have a slow puncture and was gone when i got out. anyone pick it up???? cheers

  28. Well.....fantastic session out at high tide at saunton....only me and aaron out.... Looking forward to wind wed night!

  29. Mark There was another one the other day much the same wanted to fight us all & was fin & blinding infront of his Kids, when agreed to meet him hour later in car park he was no where to be seen. He was just being a twat & deliberately walking infront of every one. Trouble is these cretins may well moan to council & the ones who enjoy watching what we do are hardly likely to ring in & say how they like it.

Still another few weeks & they will all be gone again.

  30. Ahhhh, that's better! What a session at the Ho! I can tell you have all missed me, who else gets carve sprayed 10 times in the first 10 minutes?....Cheers guys! Revenge is sweet!

Twaz a good un! Highlights for me that produced an extra whoop (sorry guys if I am getting noisey!) was Kevin landing some nice back rolls (get in there), big Mick getting up and riding lots (your there buddy), Alan thrashing some waves with his nice sparkly wave board then getting the phone number of a mermaid (lucky old bugger!), Gary was having a wonderful one and cheeky as hell (hi 5 turned to carve spray...Git!), Paul had a massive smile on his face playing musical kites with Gary and myself...Got to the stage you had to look up to remember what you was riding!...Only down side was poor old Wayne that had one of those days that nothing went right, that will serve him right for taking the piss out of me for not being able to get in all week!!!

Overal a fantastic day showing the true essence of the ND kite scene...Bloody nutters the lot of you!

  31. I am missing so much! With the accounts for AA, shop being so busy and repairs out of my ears I have to be professional. BUT the days are merging into one and I can even find the time to eat dinner as when I look up it 6pm again!

Shop shut at 3pm today, sod the accounts and if your kites not repaired it will be Sat or Mon! See you at the Ho! later. Its probibly gunna be fatal though as I have been watching the Advanced progression DVD and it all looks so easy...Lets see!

  32. Where was everyone this evening? All on my own out at instow...wind very up and down...

  33. Sounds like you spoke to a pleasant holiday maker. I had one having a go at me say what were we all doing, it's very dangerous and we were going to decapitate someone. I was gonna say well if you go and swim between the flags i'm sure you will be fine, instead, so not to cause trouble, i politly agreed and moved on.

On a brighter note wind was honking today and looks like it will be tomorrow, problem is tess (my gf) quite enjoys holding onto my harness while i drag her in the water, my poor kite!!!!

  34. I hate being rumbled......!

I did go along to Instowe couple hrs before HW ...Wind was up & down then..that & Anglers.

It was only me against 4 of them so went for a pint at Bar in Instowe instead.

Had good afternoon today at the Ho...

Fukin funny as got talking to a Holidaying woman who thought we were all very clever & safety concious etc...We do try I said...Just as Wayne crashed his Kite on Beach nearly wiping Colin out & face planting the Beach himself......!

Like she said , "Thers always one isnt there"

  35. Propper jobs! You walk around the countryside kicking a few poles...Knackered is due to your aging body that can't keep up with your mind anymore. I should know I have the same problem!

Tried at Instow last night, very high tide and wind dropped as evening went on. Okay but a little frustrating due to low power...

  36. proper jobs are only there to fill in the time between kiting!

  37. If you Bastards had proper jobs , there is no way you would be out Kite surfing in evenings...You would all be too knackered like me.....!humph !

  38. Thanks guys for such a pleasant session at Instow last night. Wind was on and off a little but it was wind! It was a plesure sailing with you fine fellows.

I like to push my limits so its new trick time! After looking on youtube for a while I came up with the following:- Jump kiteloop- Timing has to be good or your in the drink at 40 mph with the kite underneath you. I figured I may break too easily! Jesus walk-Looks soo cool and is my cup of tea coz I like messing around...Maybe to hard just yet! Surface handle pass-Now this looks possible so its the one!

Waited for the gusts to die, de powered the kite a little, unhooked, ready, ready...Got nearly all the way around, managed the pass, about to be a hero when the biggest gust of the day came through! All hell broke loose and I ended up laying in the shallows face first with the kite down, board leash snapped, Kevin giving me whoops of encouragement...Oh it all happens so quick! BUT no pain! So tried again.

Can't do it yet but its a cool trick to even try and god does it build up the muscles unhooked, ache like a good un this morning!

Well guys, I hopefully soon will raise the bar a little and know a lot of you will follow! I can see kites down all over the Ho! soon with un hooked riders everywhere!

This is what I really like about this sport, its not about being the best but about really enjoying what you do and pushing your personal limits!

Kevin was nearly landing his back rolls, Colin and myself were watching from the beach judging! Kevin got 4.1 for artistic quality but straight 6's for effort...Good lad!

  39. With the show and being busy summer time I have not been able to get out all week! Ahhh...Whats going on?!?

The shop has been megga busy and power kites have been flying through the door (even my supplier is out now!). It is great as I am meeting some fantastic people but I do miss kitesurfing with my buddies, poor Colin must have had the beach to himself most of the week. Definatly out today (wind permitting!) at Instow I think...See you out there...

  40. A big thank you to Gary & Bev, Wayne & Crew, Mike, my little ones and Wifey for making the North Devon Show day run smoothly. A pleasant pre show evening with BBQ (well done Gary) washed down with cyder (thanks Mike) with good friends. Pre show kite flying was interesting in no wind and we realised the ring was a little on the compact side!

Shop looked good for a tent in a field, demos were successful (thanks all) even though the ring was tiny and the kites could not be crashed at all due to people on chairs!!

Without the help of the above the day would had been unbearably long and no where near as fun, thanks all.

  41. Had my Youngest son Greg home from Uni for some weeks now , his older brother is a Kite surfer , but Greg was not. He has been itching to learn for some time now. I did some basic Kite flying with him , but as Kids never listen to there parents , nor am I an expert I got him a half day with Steve.....brilliant , he got up & was going & has since made several good long runs. So he is delighted & hooked. You can tell he has become a kite surfer as he now plans his life around what the wind is doing.....! Sadly he goes back to his Mums tomorrow. Going to realy miss having him around , but least will get my Kite surf kit back !

Guess quiet few of you will know who he is now & thanks to all who kept look out & helped him in particular Craig.

Not that coments from the Holidaying Nick will help though..." Your better than the old Man already" Not constuctive !

Gregs not going to forget this holiday , not only for Kite surfing , but as much for the friendliness & help from others.

    Cheers Comrades & Wayne.

  42. North Devon show Wednesday. Anyone else willing to help? We need help teaching kids to fly between 9-10am and 4-6pm. You are free to enjoy the show for the rest of the day with free entry. Please let me know.

  43. Good day. Went to Westward Ho! in the afternoon and it was more like a Sunday! Loads of faces out and quite busy. Warm, clear water and reasonable wind (was coming and going a little!). Highlights had to be Colin's big jump landing in 2-3 cm of water and making it!, Sam was on fire as normal showing us all how it could be done (not that we will ever get near to that stage!), Amy carve spraying me and riding off giggling (revenge is sooo sweet!), Wayne spray carving me and Colin, Nick with a week off and wind, Simon as I turned realized he was there but too late, by that time he had completed the unintentional back roll with no board and landed near the beach...Sorry! But it did look good! Alan playing musical kites, he always wants a bigger one! Was a fun session...

  44. Been too busy in the shop and doing accounts to get out at all this week so far...Must get out this afternoon so shop will be closed for a bit as i am missing the beach! We have delivery today of the PKD Century II Soulfly for playing with, I am after foil kite for our range thats exciting and will lift the flyer from the ground, this kite seems to tick the boxes. It is designed as a race kite so the buggiers in the area will now have a decend demo kite in the shop to use.

  45. Thats better! A bit of wind again. High tide last night at Instow, was on and off a little, but its wind! Perfect night though, wind, sunshine, clear warm water, what more can you ask for? I was the only one out so got a little lonley! Still, made the most of it! The week is looking promising with a few patches of wind, more please!!

  46. Weekend at Alton Towers...All those expensive rides and not one of them came close to the thrill of a good days kiting! It was a nice time with the family and they do deserve the time. Harvey loved the water rides and Oblivion...Guess I must turn him into a kiter soon!

  47. and hear was me thinking your home is the beach at westward ho!

  48. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger...Or so they say! It was kite carniage that day with challanging conditions, the good news is you are still down the beach as lots drop by the way side when the glamour of being a kitesurfer is brutially stripped away by mother natures sheer force! You will have more Kitemares for sure but every time mother nature tries to bite you, you find more ways of working with her for a better result next time. Like a good woman, never fight her, she will win in the end but if you work with her well...success (but still never 100% trust her as she can have some wierd moods!!).

Looking good for the next few days so excited as in today but then away till Monday evening..Poo! Must spend some family time I guess, they do put up with a lot from me never being home!

  49. yep that would be me on wedsday that needed a tow back in, many thanks again gary most thankfuly, but at least iv been intradused well and truely to the southly winds

  50. Another good session at Westward Ho! Was a gusty affair but had the new Vapour X 7m out. WOW! What a kite....Still worked in low winds but when lumpy and gusty the kite just rode through it...Best kite I have ever flew (yes, it is a bold statement!). The jumps were big, the kite quick and the depower through the bar is legendary. The wind then dies off and got a bit pants! Rest today I think, knackered!!

  51. What a great but eventful day yesterday! Must be the end of the silly flat period and coming into some serious kite time! The newest members of our communtiy have now started their innitiation to the Ho! S winds. A loose kite rescued by Gary (he's a legend and has rescued mine in the past!), a few loose boards rescued from the pebble pool rip, some frantic downed kite action out back with pretty powerful 4-5 foot surf and poor lifeguards on edge with so much going on. At present we are still holding our own and completing all the rescues in house!! They do a fantastic job though and its really nice to know they are there and ever watchful. The conditions were good, a little gusty but its wind! The surf was nice! I went for a tube at one stage, the waves faces were so nice, got a head wetting then thrown off the board! As the beach dissapeared bringing the end of the session there was an unusual incident! One of the locals went to help a visitor land, it all went a bit tits up and he ended up going through the kite...NO THROUGH the kite!! I am always after work but guys, I don't need you to physically make it for me!!

  52. It was and I was pleased you were there as no one would had beleived how good it was at times! I have never done so many raileys in one session just because I could (long time since I had the wind to do one!), except when I dug the rail right in and landed on my front! Propper good slapping of the chest (winded!) and ball sack (say no more but it blummin hurt!). Can't wait for later part of the week as looking fantastic....

  53. thanks for the company out on the water sat night.......was a good little session!!! cheers

  54. And how nice Instow was! No wind when I got there but went to a nice constant 15 mph in minutes and lasted. Had a great session, lonley though as only 5 windsurfers to keep me company. Same for me again today as i won't make Westward Ho! in time this afternoon. Will do some jobs around the house and earn brownie points then Instow tonight....Whopieee!!

  55. Looking possible this afternoon...If anyone wants anything from the shop hurry up as I am going to be totally unprofessional this afternoon and close the doors! Instow is looking a go for a bit of beach cruising and going mental on the new Vapour X! Available for demo if you can wrestle me to the ground and prise it out of my fingers!!! Oh and by the way, it's not an invitation to beat the sh*t out of me on the beach, its humor right! See you on the water....x

  56. Cheeky bugger of cause YOU will get a leash with your bar! In return I expect you up North Devon show helping with the kite flying!!

  57. Just to say what a great repair Job Pete did on my Atom after self landing on rocks.....

    Great Job good price...

Just making sure the leash does come with new bar.....!

  58. Richard, Its always nice to have visitors to swell our ranks a little, a nice windy day like that and there is still only 20 out at a time! All the locals are like me too, nutty bunch (sorry guys and girls but you are, your not normal!!). I have never met such a great friendly bunch before...Love it!

Bev, your right! I must put them on but I have to finish sewing these kites first! I am going to sleep and seeing kites at the moment! I am challaging myself to repair them as quick as you can break them!!

  59. Hey Pete,

I can't find the photos you showed us on Saturday on the site.....is it me? Or are they not on here yet :)

  60. Thanks for a great day !

    I ache as well

Think we got the best of it -early bird and all that

See you again soon - Rich BKSA

  61. What a great day at Westward Ho! Went out at 10am and had a play in the just overhead surf. Once HW came I was going to drive to Instow but conditions were good so I sailed there! Was a fair distance but fun. On the way back just on the bar at the wrong time the wind died...Did poo my wetsuit for a moment! Came back in gusts, enough to get me to shore!!

Great session but I am totally dead this morning with aches on aches, big black eyes as too uncomfortable in bed due to aches! More this week!

  62. Oh Yer baby! It was so nice to be out with the same (old!) faces again! The wind was frustrating as coming and going lots but kiting with friends again....Thats better! Where was Wayne? I need Wayne! He would had been the icing on the already fatning cake!

The Airush Vapour X was awesome, no really awesome!! Watch this space as I reccon in wind that kite will have frightning lift and float...Can't wait to poo myself! Available for demo in a month when I let it go!! I am going to order the set for the shop as I am so confident they will sell after just one session with it...

TODAY! Interesting forecast to say the least..Cold front pushing through so could get a little lumpy out there, if you are learning watch the horizon and locals. If a squal comes through (nasty rain storm where you can get hail and the wind speed can double while it pushes through) get to the beach, drop your kite and shelter under it until passed or all hell will break loose on the water! Just copy everyone else and enjoy the experience...And remember we do great kite repairs!!

I realised I missed everyone so much I am going to organise a meal out very soon. I love you guys on the water and guess you would make fantastic company off the water! It will enable our new arrivals a chance to socially meet the hardcore nutty locals so you know socially the new ones getting in the way! (no offence as we were all there at one time!). It just means we can take the piss in a friendly way as you nose dive over the board!

Well I had better sort the kids, make the wife happy by doing some dusting or something like that and get my ass down to Instow for 10!

  63. This weather sure does suck for Kitesurfers! I am missing everyone...Sounds silly but I love loads of you guys (not in a gay way! Well, maybe just Gary as our kites do a lot of kissing when we share the waves hand in hand! Or at least that's what bev thinks!!) and haven't seen hardly anyone for ages!

Kitemare is really kicking off now with 5 repairs this week, a kite sold and several other sales...All of it from away where the lucky gits have wind!

Possible later on and looking good for Sunday. Colin and myself will be alright, mid week looking very good for a few days! This should help Steve get a few learners through to swell our numbers....See you down there...x!

  64. All reved up for a session after work last night.........where the hell did the wind go??????looks like it will be a wakeboard sunday now..

  65. So frustrated now! Nothing going on and the wind we had was a dodgey direction and gusty! The weekend forecast is coming and going so who knows if we will even get wet this weekend. Like me i guess a few of you are now dropping to bits with the muscle mass disapearing, the old creaking bones have to fend for themself!

  66. Wayne phoned yesterday and I would had gone if I didnt have to catch up with the internet orders! Was 15 mph for about an hour then dropped off. That would had been the time I was launching the kite no doubt! Rest of the week has got potential with all sorts of messy weather systems out there so can't wait to get in again....See you out there....hopefully!

  67. Looks like I was in the right place as not much going on! Did anyone get out or was it totally poo? See we have a few fronts later this week so I guess I am catching up on internet orders as a few kites sold and repairing kites today. Alan, by keeping your kite a bit longer I am saving you from breaking it anymore! You could have had the Lithium...Great kite!

N D Show should be great, that Alan, Bev and Gary so far....Ice cream all round!

  68. Big screen with some Kite surfing in Background may be...

Any way you Bloody Hippy .....fancy buggering off to Glastonbury with out completing repairs on my Kite.

    Peace Man..........!

Consider me Voulinteered for Show...thats if you need a crap Kite Flyer that is.

  69. NORTH DEVON SHOW-I had a meeting with Debbie from ND Show yesterday and she is really excited about us bringing the world of kiting to North Devon Show! We have two interactive session slots booked, from 9.00-10.30 and 3.30-5.30pm to get kids flying power kites. It is in the Taka arena so will create a lot of interest from the 20,000 visitors! I need experienced kite flyers to help with this. You have to be experienced as the arena is 30m x 40m then your into the large crowd so good kite control is essential! We are aiming to get as many people through as possible to give them a taste of our wonderful sport. ND Show will provide you a free pass for the day for helping. If interested please let me know as I need to organise it so its a flying sucess! If you are not an experienced flyer and still want to help you will be more than welcome as we will need help with crowd duties and launching kites. I want it to be a cool day out for all and show North Devon what true spirit all us kiters have!!

We also have a main demonstration spot mid afternoon for a kite display. Very experienced flyers only are required for this due to the closeness of the crowd. Ideas gratefully received but I was thinking around the lines of large kites lifting people off the ground followed by buggies or land boards getting air and impressing the crowd. If we get the right people involved ND Show wants to use this display in the show pre advertizing as a crowd puller, we already have interest from the Journal on this one.

Please get in contact with me and lets impress 20,000 people!

    Peter....

  70. Sussed it now....I was copying & trying to paste the word Embeded as well !

  71. We do call you stupid! Didnt think you knew though!! Only joking we all love you especially after those photos of us all! I love the one showing the Kitemare board and me with a massive smile! Have posted them on here already. Colin looks so serious but soooo cool!

  72. mmmmmm dunno Alan, I just tried it myself and it took me straight there and played! Anybody else not get it / can get it?

  73. Call me stupid......but I cant get anything out of that Link....Pasted un all that sort of thing , but nothing.

  75. Hello - To all who were out and about on Saturday - check out this link to Garys HD Hero camera test - You may catch sight of yourself on there! :)

  76. How was that? Much better to get some wind, some good company...Weekends are good again! A very nice Saturday with abroad conditions and clear seas...What a great session with 15-18 mph clean winds. Tired this morning but ready to go this afternoon for some more!

  77. What our lot loose in age they make up for with charm, wit, endurance, friendlyness, charisma...I wouldn't swap them for a young bunch in a million years. I am just hoping it exceeds forecast a little so I can see everyone again!

  78. Bearing in mind Edge water sports have been teaching Joddi Kidd to kite surf this week I think you now need to find a top flight celb to teach . They are all young down in Exmouth so need to think of some one more our ages up here to teach. June Whitfield springs to mind or bet Lynch may be.

  79. Not a lot going on this week so far at all! Took a customer for a power kite demo yesterday and not even the foils would fly! Bit more today but funny directions...Saturday afternoon looking the best bet so far....

  80. In my defense your honor I was riding along the beach safely when a juvenile jelly fish pulled out in front of my without warning. It was too late to brake so I had to turn sharply to avoid the collision. At this point Mr Butt was riding towards me and unfortunatly caught the whole of my wake spray and dissapeared for a moment! My laughter was a nervous reaction created by the situation and not sheer joy!

  81. Oh ahh ....did speak to life Guards....loads got stung.

Wish one had bitten Sawyer on the Ass after he Carve sprayed me this afternoon. Git blinded me for a while...such imature behaviour.

Just cause some one did it to you Pete...

  82. The Beach at Westward Ho ! is coverd in Jelly fish , Waded in , loads swimming about . How nasty is there sting.....waiting for Grokels to start screaming...not heard any yet , how disapointing.....!

  83. What a day yesterday! Went to Crow Point with Wayne, all excited about day before and hoping for some more. Pulled up in the car park, not a lot moving...Looked over to the beach and not a breath of wind! We though we had it bad until a small boat parked right on the sand bank! Novice!! He soon got off!

  84. At last! It exceeded forecast loads! Had a wonderful time this morning at Crow Point all on my own. Wind was 15-18 mph E, Sun was shining so all was good in the world! Jet skis kept getting in the way but was ready to jump him!

Lets hope for the same tomorrow...

  85. think i was lucky then!!!!!got about 6 runs lol.......nice to be out though! p.s told you it was crappy crappy!

  86. And Tuesday came and went! What a good forecast for such poo wind! So frustrating as got only 2 runs in and 1 baby jump then it died totally!! Nothing long range for a while (next Monday at present!).

  87. morning!! missed another couple of days due to birthday p[arty and drink!!lol. still fingers crossed for tuesday!!!!!!!!!

  88. It was nice to be out, yes, I know I missed a good one the day before! Wind was a little light but still nice, took the Lithium and Glide board out so all was good!

Colin and myself had a little collision! We both gave way and I wrapped my lines around him and trussed him up like a big turkey! But its not even Chrismas yet! Luckley my kite sat patiently on the water and didnt power up, untangled and off again.

Was quite busy out there but great fun. Fantastic group out and fun session.

  89. Ah dont worry Pete , I was not there either................I was at Saunton....LOL Sorry!

Some mates from Bridgewater & Exmouth came up. Bastards had no money so I had to fork out for the Teas....as well as £5 poxy quid to park there today.

  90. You are much more than that Bev..You are one of the pillars of the North Devon Kitesurfing scene. In fact its really time you wrote a profile page for yourself! Yours on Gary is still the best on the site. I am trying to russle up some more now!

I am in Plymouth all day with the family, today is the only day of wind so I would much appreciate no texts, no calls and no talk of the wind I know I am about to miss today (tits!). Gutted, wind on the weekend and I can't be their...Don't miss me too much and remember no abuse!

  91. mmmmmm training eh! LMAO :)

I think I may have been subjected to these extensive wind training sessions! In my experience the key seems to be give us something to do! Pump up the kite.......launch......take photos......swop boards....etc :)

  92. He wasn't wrong! We had a great session at the Ho! I ache like a good un this morning. You need to get her trained to the wind from the beginning! My dear wife had training from me as I was a surfer, gone every swell! Now she just accepts the wind, grumbles, but I have surfers ear so its muffled!!!

  93. This bloody Idiot agreed to go out with new woman in his life, as wind did not look up to much at first....where did she want to go . Crow fekin point...all I could see was Kite surfers to the Right & kite surfers to the left....how pathetic am I ? Got rid of a rotten x just to let another one take me away from a days kite surfing......Told her later I had head ache , & she went back to Exeter.....tee hee . Got out in end at Instowe , not as good as Sea front , & not helped by a departing Wayne bragging about great day on Sea front....hope his fukin Van breaks down again.

  94. At last! WIND, WIND yes there was WIND!! Oh how nice was that to wash the cobwebs away! Started with a phone call from Wayne "Whooooopieee" Guess its good then! Had a great session messing around with Wayne, he got me with two walls of water caving the board..GIT!Lots of new regular faces appearing in the community which is good. Simon, Si, Mick all washing their kites a little but all having some nice runs, keep it up guys your all doing well. Wayne was looking like a pro after all his winter training. A fun time was had by all...More please!

  95. Spent the afternoon at Grey sands with family. No wind at all! I saw Gary, Dave and Nick getting ready for a SUP advenutre at the Ho! We all have to find something else to do as whats the point in kitesurfing at the moment? No wind!

  96. Its been a long time, wind required soon before aches and pains come back too much as I have started to feel old...Kitesurfing brings out the youth in me!

  97. Did anyone get out yesterday? There seemed to be a sneaky 1-2 hours of wind yesterday afternoon, I had to get back for the kids so was unable to wave my kite frantically trying to get going!! Poo weekend wind wise ahead...

  98. What a last few weeks! Who out there is not already totally depressed? I see from the long range we have a very slight blow on Monday, all crossd for that one. Talking of "blows" the new Kitemare Car Stickers will be printed next week....Watch for them!

  99. Complete waste of time...........at least you got wet! all i got was a wet and sandy kite and lines....

  100. What a pappy kitesurf today! Missed the flipping wind again! As I got to the waters edge it died totally and even the foils on the beach fell out of the sky! Ahhhhh!!

Surf was 2-3 ft and I havent surfed for nearly a year so in I went after stuffing the kite in the van in a huff. Lots of hard paddling for 3 nice waves! Havent forgot how to surf though, did miss the kite in my hand lots!!
