COMPANY HISTORY

Kitemare Company was started in June 2009 by Peter Sawyer. It came about because to two factors:-

1. A A Engineering, also run by Peter Sawyer was hit hard during the recession with a drop in turnover of over £200,000, we had to make 4 people redundant and suffered a massive drop in site work. I left Geoff (The General Manager) and Claire (My Company Secretary) to run A A Engineering freeing my time to sort out Kitemare Company as there was a great need for a kite repair business in North Devon. A A Engineering has now recovered but I love the kite side so am concerntrating on this.

2. I had two good kitemares in two weeks destroying both kites!! I kitesurf 3-4 times a week and could't do without them....The nearest repair centre to us in North Devon was miles away or I had to send them away via carrier meaning weeks without kites....ahhhhhh!!!

I have been designing and building Industrial and garage Roller shutter doors for 12 years and have a lot of experience with taking things apart and putting them back together. After about 1 month of practise on old and my own kites things had started to look professional. The hardest thing was learning to sew to a high standard! Its not as easy as it looks especially sewing slippery dacron! A few more months sourcing the relevant materials, getting in the stock required to enable a fast turn around for the kites we were ready to start with the first repairs. June 1st 2009 was launch date!
